2016 Tacoma shifting issues. Any fixes?

I’ve got a 2016 Tacoma TRD Off-Road 4x4 with 83k miles, and I’ve been noticing some weird shifting between 35-50 mph. It feels like it doesn’t want to shift smoothly. On the highway (60-75 mph), especially with cruise control, it seems to hunt for gears a lot.

I don’t know much about tuning or mods, but I’ve heard of the OTT mod and KDMAX tune. I just want smoother driving and better gear shifting for daily use.

Sometimes, when I’m on cruise control, it stays in high RPMs and won’t shift down.

Any advice on what I should do? Appreciate the help!

I haven’t done it on mine, but there’s a service bulletin from the dealer for a software update. It worked for me, and I also did a full ECU reset. You might also want to check out https://overlandtailor.com/—seems like a popular option for tuning.
