2024 Tacoma. How are they holding up so far?

Looking for feedback from folks who have had the new Tacoma for a while. I put down a deposit last year but ended up buying a used GX460 instead. Now I’m thinking of switching back to a truck. Should I go for a 3rd gen or stick with the 4th gen? Let me know what you think!

I’m at 7,500 miles. So far, no problems. Loving it.

Same experience here. It’s been great.

I’ve hit 13,000 miles, and it’s been solid. No issues yet. Just do regular maintenance, and it should last for years.

Mine’s at 20,000 km since April. Still love driving it. Only hiccup was a ghost trailer warning, but that was a quick fix. First snowfall just hit, and I have a 200 km drive today. Fingers crossed!

Only 6,700 km on my 4th gen. No issues yet, so far so good!

I’ve got 11,000 miles on my 4th gen and love it. Unfortunately, it’s in the shop for hail damage repairs right now.

I thought about getting a 3rd gen but really wanted safety features like lane centering and adaptive cruise control, which are a must for long drives. Those features made the 4th gen worth the wait.

Long-term reviews? The truck just came out.

By the way, women drive these too, not just ‘gents.’

Thank you! I was going to point that out too.

Fair point about the inclusivity. I just meant long term as in anything over 30,000 miles. Surely some folks are at that range?

@Remy
Good response to the feedback. Are you regretting canceling your order last year?

Not really. I love my GX460, but I do miss having a pickup.

The truck hasn’t been out long enough for anyone to give a true long-term review yet.

I don’t dislike it, but I won’t keep it after my lease. Feels smaller inside with two car seats compared to the 3rd gen. It’s faster and more responsive, though, and gas mileage is about the same. Transmission can feel a bit clunky when slowing and accelerating without a full stop, which is a bit annoying.

I had a bad experience. The transfer case failed at 2,400 miles. I switched to a lightly used 2023 3rd gen Off-Road and haven’t looked back. If you’re considering 3rd gens, stick with 2020–2023. Earlier models had known issues like the timing cover leak.

@Rory
Thanks for the input. My concern isn’t specifically the transfer case but just reliability overall. Appreciate the insight on 3rd gens, I’m eyeing a few 2021–2023 models.

Looks like you’ve found what you wanted to hear. Mission accomplished, right? :joy:

@Brogan
Not really. Still haven’t made up my mind yet.

You can’t really have long-term reviews yet. The truck’s only been out for half a year or so.
