Anyone else have back seats get wet after a car wash?

I just ran my car through a wash, and now the back seats are soaked. Any idea what could be causing this?

Sounds like there’s a leak somewhere. Could be serious.

Thanks, detective! :joy:

Bet those back seats got their WiFi connection working… straight to the cloud!

You must be a detective or something, huh?

Which year is your car? If it’s third generation, did you handle the brake light gasket recall?

Also, any roof racks or sunroof?

It’s a 2017. Haven’t had it checked, just got it recently. No sunroof or roof racks.

@Devi
You should get it to Toyota ASAP. The recall should be good until 2025. They’ll handle the gasket issue and could take care of any mold cleanup or even replace carpets. Happened to me, and they fixed everything for free.

@Riley
Appreciate the advice. I’ll bring it in soon and let them check it out.

Good call. Keep those pictures for evidence. They tried telling me it was from food spills even though it was moldy under my seats. Had to push back, but in the end, they fixed it all.

@Riley
How long did it take them to fix yours? Mine’s been in for over a month, and I’m getting tired of waiting.

Took about five weeks for mine. Hope it speeds up for you.

@Riley
Thanks for the info!

Why not drive it until they have the parts ready? Mine only took an hour to fix.

@Riley
Does this issue exist in the 2023 models, or did they fix it by then?

Only affected 2016-2019 models as far as I know.

@Riley
Thanks for sharing. I should probably check on mine before I end up in a mess.

Yeah, even if it’s not leaking now, Toyota will replace it. Simple gasket swap.
