Anyone got a Tacoma just because they wanted one?

I’ve been thinking about getting a new ride and for a while now, I’ve been eyeing the 2024 Tacoma. Honestly, I know I don’t really need a truck, but I just love the way it looks. Sure, I’d take it out for some light trails with my dog, but other cars could handle that. The thing is, I’m coming from a 2016 Focus Hatchback and want something more rugged.

I’ve also looked into the 2024 Subaru Outback Wilderness, which makes more sense, but I still keep thinking about the Tacoma. I even test drove the Outback, but then I saw a Tacoma on the road and couldn’t take my eyes off it.

Anyone else here get a Tacoma just because they wanted to, even though they didn’t really need one? I’m looking for some justification (or maybe just some encouragement lol).

Most people don’t really need a truck. We just adjust our lives around what having one lets us do. It’s all about what you want.

Exactly! I love how it changes your life. This is why I wanted mine too.

I got a truck mainly for convenience, like hauling trash and storing work stuff. Just get what makes you happy, honestly.

Trust me, you’ll end up using the bed more than you expect.

I drive a 2004 model. Technically, I don’t need it either, but over the past 20 years, I’ve definitely had moments where a truck saved the day.

I got a 2023 TRD Sport recently. I didn’t need a truck at all, but it just looked so good! If you want it and can afford it, why not? We should enjoy life sometimes.

I don’t need a truck most days, but it’s great to have when I do. Like when my ex suddenly dumped me and I had to move out in a tiny car, with barely any space to fit anything. That memory pushed me to get a Tacoma.

Anyone with a four-door truck fits in this category, really.

Yeah, four-door trucks are awesome for family trips and towing things around.

Same here, got mine just a couple of months ago. Didn’t need it at all, but I really wanted it.

A Subaru would save you a lot on gas. Honestly, the regular models can handle most off-road situations unless you’re doing hardcore trails. I went with a Tacoma because it’s more reliable and has space for my camping gear. It just fits my needs better.

We all buy things we don’t need. If it makes you happy, just do it.

I could’ve gone with a 4Runner, but a truck bed is just too useful. I learned the hard way that an SUV doesn’t always cut it. Still, evacuating for a hurricane made me appreciate the full coverage of a real trunk space, which trucks don’t have.

When I bought my Tacoma in 2018, I didn’t need it. Over the years, my hobbies changed, and now I can’t imagine life without a truck. Funny how that happens.

I don’t drive much, but my '06 is great for yard work and hauling stuff. And let’s be honest, it looks cool too.

Mine was all about wants. No more U-Haul rentals, easy beach and camping trips, and being able to load up gear on a whim. I didn’t need any of it, but I definitely wanted it.

I bought a 2023 Tacoma because I needed a truck, but my old Outback was still a beast on snow-covered back roads. The Tacoma feels like a solid upgrade.

I don’t need a truck either, but it comes in handy for random trailer towing and carrying big stuff. I ended up with a Frontier because of a good deal, but any well-maintained truck will do the job.
