Anyone replaced their Tacoma mic for better CarPlay calls?

I’ve got a 2018 Tacoma and I really love this truck. I’ve been adding mods lately, but people always say they can’t hear me well on calls.

I’m wondering if there’s a better mic that works with Toyota or if anyone here has had luck fixing this. I’d like to use CarPlay hands-free without always picking up my phone.

If you’ve replaced your mic, or changed anything that helped with call quality, please let me know what worked or didn’t. Thanks!

I don’t think the problem is with your mic. A lot of aftermarket head units still come with old Bluetooth versions like 3.1, which sound bad. New phones have Bluetooth 5.0 or newer, and when they connect to older versions, the audio quality drops.

You might want to try upgrading your head unit. That could fix the sound issue way better than changing just the mic.
