Anyone using a kill switch on their 3rd gen Tacoma?

Has anyone here added a kill switch to their Tacoma? I keep seeing posts about trucks getting stolen in my area. Most of them are push to start, so now I’m thinking about adding something for safety. Would love to hear what others are using. Thanks in advance.

There’s an Ia4 box under the driver side dash. You can tap into the 10 wire — it’s white with a black stripe. There’s a full post about it on this forum from someone named Caribe. Just search for that post.

Try putting your key fob in a faraday bag. Thieves can drive by, catch the signal, and forward it to someone nearby. That person then walks around trying doors until they get in and start the truck.

You can splice a switch into the ignition coil signal wire behind the glove box. That way it’ll crank but not actually start. Could be a good hidden option.

Here’s one that I found online that might help: Drop-In Kill Switch (Anti-Theft) - 41.22 Inc.

I read somewhere that using something simple like a steering wheel lock can actually scare off a lot of thieves. I’m thinking of picking one up for my truck.

Back when I had a 1992 Toyota Pickup, my dad had installed a small chip I could remove, if it wasn’t in, the truck wouldn’t start. It worked well and gave me some peace of mind.

You can lock the fob — it’s in the manual. If you want more protection, there are tons of old guides on how to install hidden kill switches. You could also try a battery disconnect under the hood if that fits your setup.

Honestly I haven’t tried any of them yet, but I’m also thinking about adding something soon. These thefts are getting crazy.
