So, my second-gen PreRunner just hit 250,000 miles, and I’m trying to keep it running like a champ for as long as possible. Regular maintenance has been my thing, and the only parts I’ve had to replace are the driveshaft, battery, and alternator. Everything else is solid. Does anyone have advice on specific things I should check or replace now?
Man, your truck looks amazing for that mileage. Mine’s only got 42,000 miles, and the plastics are already messed up!

You can try using plastic treatments, but if it’s already faded, replacement or painting might be your only options. I’d recommend something like 303 Aerospace every once in a while if you want to keep that trim looking fresh.

Thanks! Try Meguiar’s Black Plastic Restorer. It’s quick to apply, and it really brings that gray plastic back to black.
Here’s what I’d check: transmission fluid, differentials, spark plugs, belts, reapply some fluid film on the frame, and top off all the fluids, including both air filters. Keep that engine happy!
Love the truck! What tires are you running?

I’m using 245/75/16 Falken Rubitreks. They’re a solid A/T tire, and they don’t break the bank.
How do you keep polish and wax off that black trim? The truck looks great, by the way!

Thanks! I always use masking tape and film to cover the plastic when I polish or wax. A little prevention goes a long way, especially since getting wax off the plastic is a hassle.
You’re talking about the white one in the background, right? That thing looks awesome!

You nailed it! Total pavement princess here, and with 2WD, I wouldn’t get far off-road anyway.
What year is it?

It’s a 2015 PreRunner.
For a long-lasting setup, I’d replace the front and rear diff fluids, transfer case, power steering, and coolant. Skip flushing the transmission if it hasn’t been done before—just do a couple of drain-and-refills instead. And check the thermostat, water pump, serpentine belt, spark plugs, ignition coils, and PCV valve. Cleaning the throttle body and MAF sensor would also help. Don’t forget to grease all fittings and run some injector cleaner too.
I’d say get rid of any front-end damage for better performance. Other than that, the exterior looks fantastic for that mileage!
