Did Toyota discontinue the Lunar Rock color for the Tacoma?

Is it true that Toyota has discontinued the Lunar Rock color for the 2023 Tacoma? I inquired at a local dealership about the availability of Lunar Rock TRD Off-Road models, and the salesperson told me Toyota is no longer producing them. Is this correct?

It’s unlikely. With the new body style coming, we can expect new color options, and the Lunar Rock has been around for three years.

Sorry, I was referring to the current 2023 model.

Lunar Rock was on a production schedule of three months on, three months off. Since we’re approaching the end of the year, they might be in the final run for Lunar Rock. But that’s just a guess.

That makes sense. Have you come across any reports of quality issues with the Lunar Rock color?

The paint is quite thin. I’d definitely suggest applying paint protection film (PPF) to the vulnerable areas.

Yes, Toyota employs a better process for their metallic paints.

How has the black paint been holding up?

It’s the same with any metallic versus non-metallic paint, regardless of the color.

I have an army green which was on the same schedule and no issues, haven’t heard any issues on lunar rock but I haven’t been on the forums lately. To my knowledge the only color Toyota has issues with is the white and flaking paint due to a thin coat
