Hey Tacoma owners! I’m planning to buy a 3rd gen Tacoma by the end of the year since my GTI payments will be done soon (big change, I know). A buddy of mine got one recently, and I’ve fallen in love with them. I’ve been driving my parents’ 2022 4Runner TRD Sport, and now I want to get something similar. I plan to make it an entry-level overlanding rig but still want it comfortable for daily commuting. My question is, do the trim levels really matter? Will a TRD Sport be the same as a TRD Off-Road, or is it mostly just the badge? I plan on putting at least 20-30% down, so I have some room to play with the options. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
I’m in the same boat. I think the Off-Road trim might have side cameras. I’m leaning towards just going for an SR5 4x4 instead. It’s a bit cheaper, and I can mod it out myself.

That could definitely be an option. The TRD Off-Road comes with Bilsteins, but I’d be upgrading the suspension anyway. It also has Multi-Terrain Select and a locking differential, I think? Not too familiar with off-roading myself, so I’m not sure what all that does haha.
