Does Blue Crush Metallic on the Toyota Tacoma Really Look Purple?

Does the Blue Crush Metallic on the Toyota Tacoma actually appear purple? I’m thinking about getting a TRD off-road crew cab long bed this year, and I’m torn between the Blue Crush Metallic and the Magnetic Gray Metallic. I’ve heard that the Blue Crush can look almost purple in certain lighting. Has anyone seen one in person to confirm?

I saw one at work, and I can tell you, it does have a purple-ish hue in some lights. But outdoors, it definitely looks more blue. I’ve had trucks in similar colors before, and after waxing, the paint would sometimes look purple.

That’s kind of what I was worried about. Looks like I might be going with the MGM unless they bring back the Lunar Rock.

I think the color is nice, but everyone has different tastes.

I don’t dislike it, but I was hoping it would resemble the darker blue they used to have. My sister-in-law has a 2012 in that dark blue, and it’s one of my favorite colors.

I have the Midnight Black Metallic, and when it’s clean and waxed, it looks almost navy blue. But let’s be honest, it doesn’t stay clean for long.

You should go with MGM. I wish I could have found a 2022 MGM near me.

MGM is a classic choice. I find that cars and trucks with limited edition colors often look outdated after a few years. Very few limited colors stand the test of time.

It’s kind of like that dress everyone debated about the color of. I have a '22 Limited in BCM, and my family has nicknamed it the “Purple Taco.” Honestly, it doesn’t look bad; it still reads as blue to me.

I was really hoping it would be closer to that dark blue they had in the second generation.
