Hello, I have a 2000 Tacoma 2WD with a 3.4L engine.
I’ve been dealing with an issue for quite some time now. I have a trouble code P0505, which indicates an idle control system problem. I’ve tried several fixes, including replacing the idle control valve twice and cleaning the throttle body. I’ve checked for leaks but found nothing. Despite these efforts, I continue to experience random shutdowns while driving. The only code it shows is P0505, and I’m unsure if this is causing the shutdowns or if there’s another issue not appearing on scanners.
I have also replaced spark plugs, air filters, ignition coils and wires, fuel filters, and O2 sensors, but the problem persists. One observation is that when it shuts off if I try to restart it immediately, it only cranks without starting. However, if I wait a few minutes, it starts up again and runs for a bit before the problem recurs. I’m wondering if something is overheating or if there’s another underlying issue.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
