How do I get past the 9999 song limit on my car's USB?

Is there a way to go beyond the song limit? I guess I could try a USB splitter, but is there some kind of mod that would let me play more than 9999 songs?

I gotta be honest, I have no clue what you’re talking about.

On 3rd gen Tacomas, the radio only recognizes 9,999 songs when using a USB drive.

You’re still using a USB drive?! I’m 48 and even I know that’s way outdated.

@Chen
If I could install a cassette player, I totally would.

This is such a specific issue :joy:

Yeah, I seem to find myself in weird situations a lot.

Why do you even need that many songs? Even on a 15-hour drive with 3-minute songs, you’d only hear about 300.

Because I want to… I just wanna listen to Bobby Day and 9999 other songs too.

@TacomaTraveler4
Why not just use an MP3 player? I tried this before and realized I was making my life harder. I just keep an old iPod Classic in the glove box for when I lose signal.

That would be fine except for two things: my truck doesn’t have an aux input, and my Bluetooth skips a lot, which is super annoying.

@TacomaTraveler4
So you’re just gonna let a $2 gas station cable stop you?

No, I literally don’t have an aux port in my truck.

Oh… yeah, that’s an actual problem.

@Weston
Yep, Toyota removed aux ports after 2019. Mine’s a 2020.

My old iPod is plugged in through USB. The car’s head unit can control it that way.

Just use Bluetooth and a streaming service like Apple Music.

Super specific issue, haha.

Didn’t know people still load music onto USB drives.

I’m almost done transferring my cassette tapes to CDs. Cars still have CD players, right? …Right??
