How was your first experience driving a Toyota Tacoma on the Cape Cod dunes?

How was your first time driving a Toyota Tacoma on the Cape Cod dunes? I just tried it, and it performed way better than our Forester.

I love that color. Are those just road tires?

The tires are Dunlop AT120s. Funny thing is, I didn’t even know until I checked just now. They’re not too aggressive, more like all-purpose tires. I just got this 2015 Tacoma, and it’s my first truck, so I’m still learning about tires. They’re a bit worn out, so I’ll probably replace them with something more rugged. But honestly, they did pretty well in the sand, even when I had to stop and reverse to let someone pass.

Did you keep the tires fully aired up on the sand?

No way! I’d definitely get stuck if I didn’t air down. Plus, the Beach Patrol always knows when someone isn’t aired down enough, they’ll pull you over and give you a hard time. Ask me how I know . Back when I had the Forester, a cheap gauge was off by 3 pounds, and we got stopped. My wife was there for it, and that’s when I got “told” to get a Tacoma.

If they say Grandtrek on them, they’re probably the original tires. I have a 2015 Tacoma too, and I switched from Grandtreks to Michelin Defenders since I don’t go off-roading much :muscle:t2:.

Yeah, these are Grandtreks. I bought the truck with 84K miles, so I think the previous owner just replaced them with the same model.

Which beach did you go to?

The over-sand trail in Orleans, Massachusetts. It runs from Nauset Public Beach to the Chatham inlet.

Nice, thanks for the info!
