How wide is a 1st gen 4x4 Tacoma?

Anyone know the exact width of a 1st gen 4x4 Tacoma from outside of tire to outside of tire? I need a small truck under 69” wide to fit in my cargo boat. Google says 65-70.1”, but I need a more precise answer.

My '99 TRD Off Road DLX Single Cab (2.7L, 5-speed, 4WD) measures 69.5” from outside of tire to outside of tire. That’s with BFG KO2 31x10.5x15 tires on OEM wheels.

Thanks! Do you think I could run a more positive offset wheel even if it rubbed? Also, how far do your tires stick out past the body panels?

I’d guess about 2.5” past the body panels. I have fender flares that stick out a bit, but the actual body panels don’t extend too far. My tires are a bit wider than usual (‘floaters’), so you could go with skinnier tires to shave off some width.

The widest part of the truck is actually the side mirrors.
