Is Beaman Toyota trying to overcharge me? I bought a Tacoma in 2022, and when I opted for extra service care, the finance team assured me that for the first two years, I’d be covered for dings and scratches without going through insurance. They were very detailed about how great this coverage was if I accidentally dinged my door or scratched my vehicle. Now that I have some scratches and a ding on my bumper, they’re saying that service isn’t provided. Did they lie to me during the sale? They printed a copy of a powertrain wraparound contract, but it doesn’t have my signature, and the model listed is wrong. I feel like they’re just trying to brush me off and that I’ve been scammed.
Do you have copies of the terms and conditions from the deal? If you don’t, it might as well not exist. You could try escalating the issue and contacting the owner, but if it was verbal, they’ll likely just dismiss you.
Yeah, I reviewed the terms and conditions, and there’s nothing in there about what I was told. I should have checked more carefully back then. It’s just really disappointing to find out they lied to me.
Always get everything in writing in life. Protect yourself! It’s a tough lesson, but thankfully it sounds like the damage isn’t too severe.
Yeah, it was a bit overwhelming, but definitely a lesson learned.
Also, think about recording conversations. Just let them know beforehand. Getting everything in writing is key nowadays. It’s sad that it has to be this way to protect yourself.
As a general rule, anything discussed in the finance and insurance office except for the agreed vehicle price and taxes is usually not in your favor. I bought my SR5 from Beaman two years ago, and the finance guy was persistent, but I only ended up with a truck.
I guess I’m learning the hard way.
I bought mine there new in 2020, and it was a great experience, but they never mentioned anything about dings. I did get the lifetime warranty though. They stopped their shuttle services, which was super convenient, and now they’re sending me service coupons that expired before I even received them. They’re losing me as a customer.
I bought from them two years ago as well, and it was good. I’m sure they didn’t enjoy going over every detail with me and all the things I insisted on getting in writing. They probably wanted me out of there by the time we were done. Having that experience helped me know what to ask for in case anything goes wrong later.
Consider writing a negative review on Google about your buying process and how they’re refusing to cover the damage. Be specific and name the salesperson and finance person if you can.
