Is the Toyota Hilux popular in Mexico? I wonder how awesome it would be if we could buy them here. Would you choose it over a Tacoma?
I’ve seen some hate for the Hilux, which I get. But honestly, if they sold it here in the U.S., I’d get one. I spent a lot of time overseas, especially in the Middle East and Asia, and the Hilux brings back memories. Plus, these trucks are tough, they don’t quit.
I was in Cancun, Mexico, and Playa Del Carmen has some of the best mid-sized trucks I’ve seen. You’ll spot Dodges, Volkswagens, Hiluxes, and a few Nissans there.
Am I the only one who thinks the Tacoma looks way better than the Hilux? The Hilux seems a bit too plain for my taste.
I agree with you on the looks. The Tacoma definitely wins in that department. But the Hilux? It’s practically indestructible. It even outlasts the Tacoma in durability. And don’t even get me started on that diesel engine
The inside of the Hilux feels super cheap though. Sure, it’ll last forever, but the interior quality is pretty disappointing.
I don’t get why so many people are hyped about the Hilux. It’s just a smaller, slower, and less capable version of the Tacoma. Feels like you’re opting for off-brand cereal instead of the real thing. Plus, the diesel engine doesn’t meet U.S. emissions standards, so I doubt we’ll ever see it here.
I think most people are obsessed with the older Hilux models. The ones from the '90s are built like tanks, and I’d love to own one. But the modern Hilux? It’s just okay. I still prefer my Tacoma.
