I want to make sure I do things correctly as this is my first time purchasing a car.
In California, I’m considering a 2024 SR5 2WD that was already discounted by $2,000 off the MSRP for about $36.8k. Is this a reasonable cost? Is it reasonable for the dealer to have even more leeway, and if so, what would constitute a truly “amazing” transaction that is also reasonable?
I don’t require a 4x4, therefore I’m especially searching for a 2WD SR5. If anyone has any advice on this particular model, please share it with me.
$36.8k for a 2024 SR5 2WD with a $2,000 discount off the MSRP sounds pretty reasonable. However, in California, dealers often have a bit more wiggle room. You might be able to negotiate another $500-$1,000 off if you’re persistent. An “amazing” deal would probably be closer to $35k. Check for any additional incentives or rebates, and consider getting quotes from multiple dealerships to compare.
