I just made my final payment on my 2020 Tacoma and hit 24,000 miles. It’s finally all mine! This is my first new vehicle ever and I’m super excited at 42 to have paid off my first truck. Do any of you feel an extra burst of happiness after making that last payment?
Absolutely! Congrats on having low miles and no more payments. I can’t wait for my day to come.

No payments is the best feeling.
Congrats! It’s such a great feeling, especially when you hold the title in your hands.
I’m really happy for you! Keep saving every month, and you’ll be able to buy your next one in cash. That’s an amazing feeling too! Enjoy every drive until then!
Last May, I bought my first ‘new’ truck at 45. A 2023 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off Road with only 11k miles. It felt awesome to buy it outright.

Buying outright is the goal. Maybe one day when I’m grown up, I can do that too

How much did it cost?
Congrats! A paid-off truck with lots of life left. Now you get to bank your payment every month. After working for 42 years, overtime, double time, and side jobs, I’m finally able to write checks these days. Last check was for my '24 Taco.
@Daire
I get that! Bought my first new vehicle in '21, a SR5 4x4. I saved up for it and traded a 2015 Mazda, then wrote a check for the balance. It feels so good!
Congrats! That’s awesome.
Do you only drive it to the store? I’ve got 20k miles in 15 months and feel like I don’t drive much.

I bought mine with 47k miles in September 2024. Now it has 59k miles, and I still don’t feel like I drive a lot. It’s weird how that never changes. Don’t you all get the urge to explore?

Haha! Work is just 3 miles away, the gym is 1 mile, and the grocery store is half a mile. I did drive from Portland, Oregon to Los Angeles two years ago and go hiking on weekends, but I’m lucky to have everything so close.

My 2020 off-road had 14k miles when I sold it after 3 1/2 years, and I drove it to work nearly every day.
Nice job! I also have a paid-off 2020 with 32k miles at 42 years old.
Great job on paying it off and keeping the miles low! I see a lot of people buying used cars and still doing 5-year loans, but when they’re paid off, those cars have 190k miles!
