I work as a field service technician and need to keep my parts in the truck bed. I’m struggling to pick a bed cover since most reviews mention some leaks. Does anyone have any recommendations for a truly waterproof bed cover?
What about a 4runner?
I don’t think anyone can promise 100% waterproof, honestly.
I’ve used the Diamondback cover for traveling across the US. It’s not 100% waterproof but it’s almost perfect.
I have a Smartcap and it’s great for keeping dust and water out, but I did have issues with the latches. Even with their ‘new’ ones, I had to send them back several times to get them right.
None of them will be 100% waterproof. You should probably buy some plastic totes for your parts.
100% waterproof? You’d have to get a 4Runner and remove the backseats.
The Bakflip F1 is as close as it gets for waterproofing. It only lets in a few drops at most.
You could try sealing the gap between the cap and bed with a garage door seal.
I have a hard top cover, and while it does a good job of keeping rain out, things still get wet sometimes. I use plastic tubs to keep my things dry when needed, like for camping or storing food. It’s always worked for me.
I have a DiamondBack on my 2022 Tacoma. It’s about as close to waterproof as you’ll get.
Have you considered going for a 2025 Frontier Pro4X?
It’s a Toyota bed issue, not the top or cap. Water seeps in below the top. Honestly, my Smartcap doesn’t leak much, but I had to do a lot of extra work to make sure it was sealed well. It had little to do with the cap itself. Toyota never designed this bed to be completely dry. My 2024 model has this problem, but it’s been a consistent issue with Toyota. My Chevy 1500 never had any water or dust issues.
