Need help with OEM headlights for my Tacoma, what do I need?

Hey guys, I just got a 2023 Tacoma SR trim and I’m really liking it so far. The one issue I’m having is with the headlights; they’re not very bright, and I’m already struggling to see at night.

From my research, I found out that the OEM headlights are the best option. The problem is, I think there’s some sort of adapter I need to install them, but I’m not totally sure. Does anyone know exactly what I need? Also, where’s the best place to buy the OEM headlights? I didn’t expect to spend $1500 on headlights!

For just $50 you can get much better bulbs. It makes a huge difference. No need to spend $900 on LEDs. Taco headlights already look pretty good.

Yes, the headlights are super dim.

For the adapter, check the FBC harness.

You can also search “best deals tacoma OEM LED headlights”.

This is what I found:

This has the best prices I found for OEM and not used parts.

@Morgan
I recommend the FBC harness too. You can find his posts on Tacoma World, and he’s really quick to respond if you have questions. I ordered one, and it’s arriving this week to help me install my new OEM LED headlights. I bought them during the Black Friday Toyota sale. I went back and forth for months on which headlights to get, but finally chose OEM based on my research.

@Morgan
Just so you know, “As of 4/10/2023 I no longer offer a conversion harness for SR and SR5.” These harnesses are really hard to find now, unfortunately.

That’s disappointing, I’ll have to keep looking for something else.

@Bay
I got some $500 LED headlights on Amazon, and while they look great and work well, the turn signal sometimes gets stuck on, which isn’t fun at night.

I really wanted OEM LEDs, but there’s no harness for them now. I’d try it myself, but I’d probably mess it up.

I’ve heard of Alpharex and Morimoto headlights, but I haven’t used them myself.

@Heath
If there’s a will, there’s a way. I’ll keep looking, hopefully, someone here knows a guy who can help. Fingers crossed!

Oops, I didn’t notice that. Sorry about that!

@Morgan
No worries, I’m in the same boat as an SR owner.

What’s the conversion? Is it just a plug or connector change?

You can buy the plugs and pins from Toyota and make your own harness if you’re up for it.

@Harley
If it was that simple, people would be doing it, and we’d hear about it more.

The new Morimoto evo headlights look pretty much plug and play with any 3rd-gen Tacoma and come with adapters for any trim. Plus, they look awesome in my opinion.

This forum usually has great advice!

Whenever I need something OEM, I reach out to Joe Joe.

You can find him on Facebook here: Redirecting...

I met him during a recovery a few years ago and have done some light off-roading with him. He’s super helpful, can find rare parts, and always offers the best prices for new, 100% OEM parts. However, some high-demand items (like older 4runner axles) might be on backorder for a while.

He’s a busy guy, but works directly with Toyota, and he’s legit.

Seems like a lot of money for headlights. The OEM HIDs are perfectly fine. Maybe just swap out the bulbs?

I run the Morimoto 2-stroke LEDs with an anti-flicker capacitor (PWM). They’re a great upgrade.

I’ll check them out, thanks!
