New work truck, thoughts on mileage?

New work truck update!

I recently got a 2024 TRD Off Road as my new work truck. I’ve had it for almost two weeks now, and I’m really enjoying it, except for the fuel range. It’s been a letdown not being able to reach 300 miles on a full tank.

I plan to keep this one stock, as the mods will be going on the Raptor in the background.

300 miles? That’s not great. What’s the fuel economy like?

I’m averaging about 15 mpg. That’s mostly highway driving at 80-82 mph across Wyoming.

That’s pretty bad mileage. My 3rd Gen gets 20 mpg, and I’m hoping for at least 22 mpg on my 2024 model.

@Dakota
It’s only been 2 weeks, give it some time to break in.

Your mileage should improve. I’m at 16.7 mpg with 285/70/17 tires. You might end up around 17 mpg.

The fuel range reading will change after about 1,000 miles. It needs time to adjust and get more accurate. Even when it shows close to empty, you probably still have 80 miles left. The readout is based on a 14-gallon tank with over 4 gallons as reserve. The full tank size is 18.2 gallons. People who have had their trucks for over 1,000 miles are seeing readouts around 340-350 miles when full. After 500 miles, my truck’s range went from about 270 to around 290 miles.

@Lane
After 5,000 miles, mine shows around 295 miles in Econ mode. I don’t drive aggressively, but we do have hills, which I think affects it. My average is 18.5 mpg, and on a road trip, I hit about 21.5 mpg. After that tank, the readout was 330, but after the next full tank, it dropped below 300.

The gas tank is my main issue. I don’t mind the mileage, but the range is annoying. It should be around 24 gallons. I do get better mileage, about 22-23 mpg if I keep it around 70 mph.

runs outside to check if my truck was stolen, only to remember OP has a 5-foot bed and I have a 6-foot one

out of breath Nice truck!
