I’m in the South, and with just a little bit of snow, everything is closed. Meanwhile, I’m outside enjoying the snow. Anyone else find it funny how this happens?
Just 2 inches in Texas and the whole state shuts down. Meanwhile, here in Colorado, we’ve got 6–8 inches and 70 mph winds, and I still have to go to work. This is crazy!

Tell me about it! My wiper fluid pump failed while driving on Highway 40 heading back to Denver. I had to stop so many times to clean my windshield and mess with the fuse. In the end, it completely gave up, and now I’m stuck in Colorado Springs paying for a replacement. It’s a nightmare!
@Vann
I feel your pain. Back in Chicago, I once ran out of wiper fluid during a storm. I ended up driving close behind trucks to let their spray clean my windshield. The rust cleanup afterward was no fun, though.
Half an inch and everything shuts down? That’s hilarious!

That’s how it goes down here. We’re not built for snow.

I used to live near Marfa, Texas, and I remember everything shutting down for just an inch of snow. By 10 a.m., the sun would melt it all. I used to laugh about it!

It’s not just the snow… it’s the ice that’s the real problem. Plus, we don’t have the equipment to clear roads or the experience to handle it.
@Ren
Exactly! It’s just like when the North gets a 90-degree heat wave, and people without AC suffer. It’s all about what you’re used to.

It’s the ice that gets us, not the snow. And nobody here has snow tires; we just use summer tires all year round.
That red truck is looking good in the snow!
I live in interior Alaska, where we have snow piled up for five solid months. Nothing ever shuts down.
It’s funny, though—most of the vehicles I see in ditches here have Texas plates. It’s like a running joke among us Alaskans.
There’s nothing better than enjoying a snow day!
I love snow days with my regular cab truck. I don’t even bother using 4WD; I just let the back end slide around. So much fun!
Meanwhile, in Maine, we’re used to 12-15 inches at a time. This winter has been so boring with barely any snow!

I know, right? It’s been mild so far. My truck is just sitting there all sad while I’ve been driving my car instead.
@Perrin
I’m heading up to Wallagrass next weekend for some ice fishing. Hopefully, there’s more snow up there. Someone posted a pic of snow in Stacyville, and Wallagrass is even farther north.
This is why we drive 4x4s. Have fun out there!
Even when we get a ‘small’ snowfall here in New York, it’s usually at least a foot or two. This Southern snowstorm stuff is wild to me.
Get inside right now and eat your milk sandwich while praying for our troops and linemen!
Just kidding… but seriously, it’s always blown way out of proportion.
