Tips for Preventing Windows from Getting Folded in Car Wash

I own a 2021 SR5 and have a recurring issue with the car wash. Even though I fold my mirrors in before going through, they still end up getting folded in and out by the brushes in the car wash. It’s becoming a concern because I don’t want to damage them.

Does anyone have tips or tricks to prevent this from happening? Are there specific car wash methods or precautions I should take to ensure my mirrors stay in place?

To prevent your car’s windows from folding or moving during a car wash:

  1. Ensure windows are fully closed.
  2. Lock your doors to engage window seals firmly.
  3. Avoid automatic car washes with high-pressure jets.
  4. Consider hand washing for better control and care.

Your 2021 Ford Escape likely doesn’t have a traditional transmission filter. It uses a fine mesh screen inside the transmission pan. To service it, you’ll need to drain the fluid, remove the pan, clean it, and refill with new fluid. Consult your owner’s manual for specific instructions.

I use a silicon squeegee and paper store towls. It works well, however keep in mind to shield the dash when using the squeegee.
