TRD Pro Engine Issues at 33K Miles. What Are My Options?

So my 2023 TRD Pro had a cylinder head issue, and the dealer had to rebuild the engine. Got it back, and within a day, the check engine light came back on.

Everything is covered under warranty, but I’m starting to lose patience with this truck. If this keeps happening, do I have any real options here?

Look into lemon laws in your state.

I bought it brand new, but I think lemon laws only apply if the car has under 15K miles. Mine has 33K now.

You’re not the first. I’ve heard of at least three Gen 3 V6 engines having the same issue under 50K miles.

So you’re saying I should only buy one if it has over 50K? Got it :joy:

@Landry
Haha, yeah, basically. If it makes it past 50K without issues, it’s probably solid.

Might be worth giving it another chance. Could just be a small issue the dealer missed and an easy fix. I’ve seen that happen before. No need to assume it’s something major yet.

I’d also give it one more shot. A new TRD Pro will cost way more now, so if you can fix this and don’t mind the truck, it might be worth holding onto.

That said, start keeping detailed records—dates you bring it in, what’s getting fixed, how long they keep it, etc. If it keeps acting up, you’ll want those records for a potential buyback under your state’s lemon laws.

My rule is simple: one strike, I fix it and move on. Two strikes, I fix it and trade it.

If I were in your shoes, I’d be looking for something else. My 2022 TRD Pro has 48K miles with zero problems so far. Sorry you’re dealing with this.
