TRD Sport vs. TRD Off-Road: Which Tacoma trim is better?

TRD Sport vs. TRD Off-Road: Which Tacoma trim is superior?

Is there a significant difference in on-road driving comfort between the two trims?

Does the Off-Road model offer more wheel travel compared to the Sport?

I recently bought a 2015 Sport because I’m a hiker who needs to reach trailheads. I don’t do any extreme rock crawling, just navigating dirt roads that might be a bit rough.

I absolutely love it and plan to keep it until one of us gives out. It’s also quite good for city driving. I’m really happy with it.

The Sport handles best with a load in the bed for a smoother ride.

The Sport provides an extra 15 horsepower with that hood scoop.

I have a 2019 Sport and found the ride a bit too harsh for long highway trips. I swapped the stock tires for Pathfinder all-terrain ones, which significantly improved the ride comfort.

The Sport lacks a rear locker but features a much stronger axle. Most Off-Road users won’t encounter situations where a locker would be necessary.

Wait, what? :joy: Why do you say that?

Because when you’re stuck, the fake scoop supposedly boosts horsepower to help you get out.

Okay, I asked why he said that most off-road users will never need their locker…
