How’d you get the steering wheel swapped out? Do the buttons still work?
Yep, the buttons work fine. All I needed was a 10mm to disconnect the battery, a T30 screwdriver to get the airbag out, a Phillips for the controls, and a 19mm to unbolt the wheel. Took about 45 minutes altogether.

Looks great! Didn’t need any adapters for the harness?
No adapters needed, everything was plug-and-play except for the backup camera, which came with a new harness. For the steering wheel, it was a direct swap, no issues with fit.

If Crutchfield has the radio you want, they’ll list the components needed to install it with steering wheel controls, etc. Sometimes, they’re cheaper elsewhere, but I get my install gear there.
Setup could be easy like flashing a device and plugging it in (I used a Maestro RR module), or it might need some soldering if you’re unlucky. Not too bad but I’m not the biggest fan of soldering since I don’t do it often.
Thinking about doing this for my ‘14 once it’s out of the shop. After using a rental with CarPlay and a big screen, I feel like I need those features, but I’m a bit worried about blocking the vents with a larger display.

Can you share which head unit and seat covers you went with?
Head unit is by Top Display, and the seat covers are from Luckyman Club.
How’s the sound on that head unit? Found it online, but I’m used to my Awesafe setup, and it’s not quite as good as the stock sound. Love how that 13" screen looks though!
How’d you go about changing the interior? I’m in CA with an all-black interior, and I’m already dreading the summer heat. Would love to lighten it up a bit. Did you buy a kit or get it done professionally?
@Bao
Did it all myself! Used something similar to this , cut to fit, and glued the edges since the adhesive wasn’t great. I’ve done some vinyl wrapping on the side, so that helped.
Nice work! I just put in a Sony 9500ES, new speakers, and a backup camera in my 2007. Slowly getting myself up to date too! The bezels on your unit look nicer than mine… curious how the sound quality compares.
@Piper
Sound is pretty good, better than the stock setup since it has a nice EQ built-in. Planning to upgrade the speakers next, but first on my list is a suspension overhaul.
