What are the best side steps for a Toyota Tacoma? (TRD Off-Road)

What are the best side steps for a Toyota Tacoma? I’m about to get a new army green TRD OR and was wondering what you all would recommend for side steps or running boards?

Predator steps are great, but they do reduce your ground clearance by about 6 inches right where you might need it most. Depends on how you plan to use your truck.

Yeah, that’s exactly why I was thinking of going with running boards instead. I like the look of predator steps, but I don’t want to lose any clearance.

If you’re planning to off-road on more than just dirt roads, a set of sliders would be a good investment. They’re kind of like cheap insurance, plus they add more utility, like extra jacking and recovery points. Just something to consider.

Do you know of any good slider brands under $1,000? I saw Body Armor Rock Sliders on Amazon for less than $700, but they seem way cheaper than brands like BAMF, so I’m a bit skeptical.

I got my CaliRaised Offroad sliders for around $750, and they’ve held up through some serious abuse.

Did you get them powder-coated, or just bare metal?

I went with bare metal and sprayed them with RaptorLiner. They get scratched and gouged every time I go out, so it’s way easier to just touch them up at home.

I’ve got a '21 TRD Pro and still love the OEM predator steps.

I’ve been trying to decide between those and the flat running boards from Tyger or Go Rhino.

Just checked them out, tough choice. I think I like Go Rhino more. They have that predator style but are flat. Not really feeling the piping on the Tyger boards.

I’m leaning towards Go Rhino too. I was specifically looking at the Tyger Blade or the Rhino RB-20’s.
