What are the best side steps for a Toyota Tacoma?

I’m about to get a new army green TRD Off-Road Tacoma and I’m wondering what you guys recommend for side steps or running boards. Any suggestions on the best ones?

Just a heads-up, Predator steps cut down about 6 inches of ground clearance, and that’s usually right where you need it most. But it really depends on how you plan to use the truck. :man_shrugging:

Good point! That’s exactly why I’ve been leaning towards running boards. I love the look of Predator steps, but I don’t want to lose that clearance.

If you’re planning to do more than just dirt roads, you might want to consider sliders instead. They’re pretty affordable insurance and give you extra jacking and recovery points. Just something to think about!

Are there any reputable companies that make sliders for under $1,000? I saw some Body Armor Rock Sliders on Amazon for under $700, but I’m a little skeptical since they’re a lot cheaper than brands like BAMF.

I got my CaliRaised Offroad sliders for around $750, and trust me, they’ve taken some serious abuse and held up well

Nice! Did you get them powder-coated or just leave them as bare metal?

I left them as bare metal and then sprayed them with RaptorLiner. They get scratched up whenever I go out, so it’s easier to just touch them up at home.

I’ve got a '21 TRD Pro and still love the OEM Predator steps.

I’ve been going back and forth between those and the flat running boards from Tyger or Go Rhino.

I just checked those out, it’s a tough call! I think I’m leaning more towards Go Rhino because they kind of mimic the Predator style but with a flat design. Not really feeling the piping on the Tyger, though.

Yeah, I’m leaning towards Go Rhino too. Specifically thinking about the Tyger Blade or the Rhino RB-20s.
