What are your experiences with high-mileage Tacomas over 200K?

What have your experiences been with high-mileage Tacomas with over 200K miles?

I’m particularly interested in hearing about the 4.0L V6 engine (1GR-FE) in these vehicles. Toyota claims that the engine is only good for 200K miles and cannot be rebuilt due to the block construction. Please share your mileage experiences or if you had to replace the engine and the reasons why. Thank you!

I’m still looking for the Toyota website link that discusses the lifespan of this engine. It seems unusual to me that a Toyota engine would only last 200K miles, given the durability of older engines. I suspect Toyota might be covering their bases, but I’m not entirely sure.

I have a 2009 SR5 with 218K miles on it, and everything is original. It runs smoothly as ever.

I’m curious if you’ve ever had to rebuild or replace your shocks, and if so, at approximately what mileage?

Shocks aren’t very expensive, so just go ahead and replace them.

I agree. I found it amusing that the language seemed to imply I was looking for an excuse to skip the maintenance.

I was actually more interested in knowing what a typical interval is for doing this.
