What makes the 2002 Toyota Tacoma such an awesome truck?

Just bought a beautiful 2002 Tacoma. What an awesome, honest little truck :red_car::dash: What makes these 2002 Tacomas so great?

Gotta be honest, I’m a bit let down that you posted 7 photos but didn’t include any shots of the interior. I love how simple and straightforward Toyota’s interiors were from that time. No frills, just pure function. :seat:

Yeah, I actually took some interior shots but the app wouldn’t let me upload any more photos. :man_shrugging:

Nice. I have the exact same truck. One of the best colors out there, hands down. :green_heart:

Right? I’m so happy it’s green, my favorite color :four_leaf_clover:

Haha, I saw “2020” in the title and thought it was going to be another 3rd gen Tacoma post. Pleasantly surprised. That’s a beautiful truck, by the way. (And no shade to 3rd gens, I drive one myself ).

Wait, how many miles and how much did you pay for it? :eyes:

Guessing 150k miles and around $8,900?

Wow, if that’s the case, that’s an amazing deal :fire:

Oh no, that’s just my guess, I’m not the OP. I bought a 1998 standard cab with A/C for $4,800. Had 90k miles on it and tons of maintenance records. My mechanic said it was the deal of a lifetime.

That’s an incredible deal! I don’t even need another truck, but I’d snatch one up at that price in a heartbeat. :money_with_wings:

I got super lucky with it. It was on Craigslist, and the photo made the hood look misaligned. Plus, being a standard cab, a lot of people passed on it. But when I checked it out, everything had been replaced—u-joints, belts, shocks, you name it. I knew it was the deal I’d been waiting for. :sunglasses:

Wow, that’s awesome! Mine has 111k miles, and I paid $6,800 for it. But honestly, I’ve already spent a couple of grand on new tires, brakes, an O2 sensor, and fixing a leaking rear axle.

That’s still a great price in today’s market :raised_hands:

Thanks, I definitely got lucky with this one :four_leaf_clover:

Same here. I’ve replaced almost everything, including the exhaust (except for the catalytic converter), which required two O2 sensors and custom-fitted tubing that alone was $700. Also had to replace a cracked radiator ($200) and a starter ($150). It all adds up, but totally worth it

Yeah, the upkeep can be a little pricey, but having a reliable truck like this is priceless:blue_car::muscle:
