What makes your 2001 Tacoma still feel like an exceptional vehicle after 23 years?

What is it about your 2001 Tacoma that makes it feel so extraordinary even after 23 years of hard use?

Let me tell you a bit about my Tacoma. It’s a 2001 model, and believe it or not, it’s been with me for over two decades now. This truck has truly earned its place in my heart. Every time I get behind the wheel, it feels like it’s rewarding me for all the years of service. It’s an all-stock 2001 TRD DLX V6 with 4WD, complete with high and low gears, an electronic differential lock, and automatic transmission. With 280,000 miles on the odometer, it’s still running as smoothly as the day I got it.

This truck has been through it all. It’s been my reliable workhorse, hauling motorcycles, ATVs, drywall, wood, rock, whatever I’ve needed to transport, it’s handled it without a hitch. It’s tackled snow, ice, mud, sand, dirt, and miles of asphalt. Despite the years of hard work and rough conditions, it’s held up remarkably well.

I’ve thought about trading it in for a newer model, but honestly, I can’t bring myself to do it. There’s something incredibly special about this Tacoma. It’s not just a vehicle; it’s a trusted companion that’s been with me through thick and thin. I’m pretty convinced it’ll outlive me, and that thought alone makes me hold onto it with a lot of pride and affection.

That’s the nicest first-generation model I’ve come across in the past 15 years.

Thanks, It’s a lot easier to maintain it like this when it’s a one-owner vehicle and I’m meticulous about preventative maintenance and upkeep. I prefer to address issues before they become problems.

I’m pretty sure if you dropped a spaghetti dinner on your garage floor, it’d still be worth eating, even if you’re completely sober .

What a stunning truck. Thanks for sharing.

:joy: It’s not quite like that, but I do keep the garage tidy as well. It’s only for the motorcycles, though the Tacoma stays outside.

Absolutely, man. Us four-door guys have to stick together. There aren’t many four-door Tacomas around here in San Antonio. I get excited when I spot another one and immediately start checking it out for parts I might need or want to grab. Lol :joy: :joy: :joy:
