Honestly, just enjoy that unique smell old Toyota truck interiors have

I used to be a courier back in the mid-90s, and my company had the basic 2WD manual version of that truck. After driving it for eight hours a day for a couple of years, I can say I really loved those trucks. They were tough, often driven until they reached at least 300K miles. I had a ‘94 that I drove for over ten years, and I still miss it sometimes. My ‘08 Tacoma is great for winter, but that ‘92 is perfect for exploring the beautiful Pacific Northwest, way better than a Prius.

That sounds amazing. My dad has a ‘92 Toyota Pickup with just over 200K on it. He bought it new and has kept it in great shape. I’m in my mid-20s living in Seattle and currently driving an ‘07 Prius that I got in college. I’ve always wanted a Tacoma or a 4Runner, but the prices for newer models have held me back. I’m thinking about selling the Prius and getting the truck from my dad. I’d fix up a few things and use it for daily driving, mostly for skiing, biking, and hauling stuff like paddle boards or furniture. I know I’ll lose some comfort and fuel efficiency, but I’m ready to drive something that feels right for me. Any tips from folks who drive similar trucks?

I’ve got a ‘93 model. My best tip is to keep up with your oil changes. Avoid putting big tires on it and then taking it up steep trails. I also suggest giving it a fresh coat of paint to prevent rust. Check the front end too make sure the tie rods, control arms, ball joints, and sway bar bushings are in good shape. If you do all that, this truck could last you a lifetime.

Appreciate the advice. Does your truck handle well on the freeway?

Yeah, it does fine, but I don’t take it on the freeway much. The truth is, it’s not the fastest truck out there, so just stick to the right lane

Just keep it fueled up, and you’ll be good to go with that awesome truck

… And drive it like you mean it :red_car::dash:

I’ve got a ‘99 Tacoma, and I faced an issue with the ignition. It started on its own while I was outside, and since it’s a manual, it rolled over some mailboxes before hitting a car. I had the keys in my hand the whole time. Not sure if older models have the same issue, but I’d definitely look into it.

Did you ever find out what caused that? What ended up fixing it?

I sold it before I could fix it. From what I read, it was likely the ignition cylinder malfunctioning, plus the clutch safety switch wasn’t working, so it was able to idle forward in gear.
