What should I do if my 2021 Tacoma displays a check charging system message?

It’s actually pretty normal if you see that message while the engine is off. Sometimes I chill in my truck and listen to music during lunch, and it pops up every time. But if it shows up while you’re driving, then that could be a different story.

:man_facepalming: Seriously! So it’s not only me who’s seeing this

I had the same thing happen with my 2021. The warning comes up when the truck is on but the engine isn’t running. It’s nothing to worry about.

Yeah it’s just a heads-up that appears when you’re in accessory mode to remind you about battery drain.

Are you parked or actually driving when that warning shows up?

If it stays on after you’ve been driving for a while, you might want to check your manual or the terminal connections, or maybe get it diagnosed somewhere.

It only comes on when I turn the key. Even after a long drive, if I turn the key again, it shows up. I’m not sure if it’s just part of the usual lights or something else.

I only get that message when I’m in “electric mode,” where everything has power, but the engine is still off. Is that what you’re experiencing?

I’m not really sure what electric mode is, to be honest.

It’s when the key is in the ignition but you haven’t turned it enough to start the engine. For push-to-start models, you just press the button twice without touching the brake. And hey, no worries if you didn’t know that everyone starts somewhere.

I’ve had a Toyota Hilux, Mitsubishi L200, and Isuzu Dmax, but this is my first Tacoma, so I wasn’t familiar with that. Thanks for the info!
