What should you know about Texas Toyota dealerships?

I’m starting to think car dealerships can’t get any worse… until I began searching for a Toyota Tacoma in Texas. :upside_down_face:

Has anyone found a Toyota dealership in Texas that actually sticks to charging MSRP? And more importantly, do they actually follow through on that promise?

Good luck with that. Texas Toyota dealerships are honestly the worst in every possible way.

Yeah, I’m coming to the same conclusion pretty fast. What I don’t get is how Toyota U.S.A., which is based in Plano, TX, doesn’t seem embarrassed by it.

Ford and GM at least stepped in when their dealers started pulling this nonsense. They sent out letters basically telling their dealers to cut the crap, reminding them it was unfair to loyal customers and hurt their brand. They even threatened to send their trucks to other dealerships if they didn’t clean up their act.

I hear you. But trust me, New York tristate area is giving Texas a run for its money in the “worst dealership” department. :grimacing: Good luck out there

Here’s what worked for me: Go to each dealership in person. Find a sales rep, be polite, and let them know you’re ready to buy immediately. Tell them exactly what you want and what you’re willing to pay.

If they don’t have the truck (and most won’t), give them your contact info and move on to the next dealership with the same offer. I did this last year, and one dealer came through after a few weeks.

Have you tried Costco? Might be worth checking out.

Classic Toyota in Galveston sells at MSRP. :+1:

Funny enough, I’ve already reached out to them! My experience was positive, but they’re a smaller dealership and don’t have any trucks. Plus, they don’t know when they’ll get any in stock.

I get that. I placed an order with them, and it took around two months for my truck to arrive. But hey, I got it at MSRP, so the wait was worth it.

Yeah, I don’t mind waiting a couple of months either. The issue is that right now, they can’t even take an order or deposit.

Ah, I see. Sorry to hear that, man. It wasn’t like that when I ordered mine a few months back.

Wishing you the best of luck finding a dealership that’ll work with you at MSRP!
