Do not buy the 2024 Toyota Tacoma - Buyer Beware!

Do not buy this truck. If you’re considering purchasing the 2024 Tacoma, be aware that getting basic repairs or parts could mean a wait of 3 to 6 months. My own 2024 Tacoma was rear-ended with the tailgate down, and the body shop needs the tailgate handle and inner parts. They’ve been told the parts will only arrive in September. The truck has been in the shop for three months (since April 29), and they still can’t get the parts. Toyota isn’t providing the necessary parts to dealers or shops. Despite several calls to Toyota USA, I’ve been told the parts aren’t available and they can’t expedite delivery. It seems Toyota is prioritizing building new trucks in Mexico over assisting current Tacoma owners. Buyer beware!

I had a tough experience with my 2024 Tacoma that might be useful for anyone considering buying this truck. After being rear-ended with the tailgate down, I faced major delays with repairs because Toyota couldn’t supply the necessary parts. The body shop has been waiting for essential parts since April 29, and Toyota has said they won’t be available until September. Despite numerous calls to Toyota USA, they can’t expedite the parts and seem to be focusing on new truck production rather than supporting current owners. If you’re thinking about getting this truck, be prepared for potentially long waits for repairs and parts.

Greetings from ANY first-year model car ever. To be honest, that includes the majority of post-pandemic AND premium vehicles.
In my experience working in vehicle insurance, Range Rovers on several-year-old trucks can take two to three months to receive components. Act as though this is a novel situation.

The Tacoma has been modified the rear tailgate now houses an SRS Air Bag sensor. With my tailgate down, I felt the full impact. The truck alerted an SOS contact center as soon as it saw me being struck from behind and inquired as to whether I needed police or an ambulance. The SRS Air Bag sensor on the truck is currently malfunctioning and has to be replaced. The SRS Air Bag system is rendered inoperable if even one sensor is malfunctioning. In order for me to be able to legally drive the truck, the body shop has not been able to obtain a replacement sensor. The body shop is trying to find a solution so I may keep using the truck till
The components are delivered.

The main point is that Toyota is producing new vehicles in Mexico, has all the parts, and is shipping new Tacomas every day. Toyota is not supplying dealers or consumers with parts.
