My taco has an engine oil cooler. Do I still need a transmission cooler?

It seems that my taco has a cooler for engine oil. Right now, I’m pulling a 3,000-pound travel trailer. Is it still worthwhile for me to install a transmission cooler?

Yes, it would be beneficial to install a transmission cooler, especially since you are towing a 3,000-pound travel trailer. While your engine oil cooler helps maintain the temperature of your engine oil, it does not address the heat generated by your transmission. Towing puts extra strain on your transmission, causing it to heat up significantly. A transmission cooler can help dissipate this heat, preventing potential damage and ensuring smoother operation.

In addition, transmission coolers are important in high-stress situations like towing, off-roading, or driving in stop-and-go traffic. They help maintain optimal transmission fluid temperature, which can extend the life of your transmission and improve overall vehicle performance.
