Question about lifting a longbed truck, need advice!

I’m thinking about getting the Eibach 2 lift for my 2019 TRD Sport, but I’m a bit confused. I measured from the center of the hub to the fender, and all four corners are within 1/2 to 3/4 inches of each other. My truck looks level right now, and I don’t want it to end up with a weird squat after the lift. I usually have about 250 pounds of tools in the bed all the time. Is it normal for long beds to need more lift in the rear compared to short beds? I’m trying to figure this out before I make a decision.

Can you clarify what you’re trying to achieve? Also, which lift kit are you looking at, and what’s the goal for your truck?

I’m wondering if it’s typical to need more lift in the rear for long beds. I’m looking at the Eibach 2.0, and I want the truck to stay level or maybe have a slight rake, but I’m unsure if I’ll need an extra block in the rear given how close my current measurements are.

@Gale
Got it, thanks for explaining. Any chance you’ve added bumpers or other gear that could affect the ride height? Are you measuring on a flat surface? Also, can you share a link to the kit you’re considering? Some lifts are designed to address factory rake while adding height.

@Peyton
No, it’s stock aside from the tools I keep in the bed—around 200 pounds. I measured on a fairly flat surface. I’ll look up the kit, but my concern is whether I’ll need to add a small block in the rear if I go for this lift. Does this sound like a common issue for long beds?

@Gale
That makes sense. With long beds, you might need extra lift in the rear, but it depends on the truck and the lift. For peace of mind, you could order a small block kit as a backup. If you don’t need it, just return it. They’re cheap and easy to find.

@Peyton
Good idea. I’ll order extra and return what I don’t use. Thanks!

No problem. Is the Eibach 2.0 the only lift you’re considering?

Yes, and maybe an Icon leaf pack for the rear, but I’m still deciding.

@Gale
Another option is a thicker add-a-leaf kit with two springs instead of one. If it gives too much rake, you can remove one later. It’s more work, but it might save money.

@Peyton
Just to clarify, the truck is stock except for the tools. I have them secured in the bed with a cargo net.

Let me explain better. I want a 2-inch lift all around, but based on my measurements, I’m worried that even with a leaf pack, the rear might sit too low. Is it normal for long beds to need more lift in the rear to handle the added weight?

Thanks for your input! I’ll look into it more.

OEM leaf springs tend to sag over time, especially with added weight in the bed. For long beds, the problem is worse because the same springs are used, but the extra length puts more stress on them. If your truck is level now, it’s likely because the springs are worn out. New leaf springs are a better solution than just adding a block or an add-a-leaf, which are temporary fixes.

I’d recommend Deaver U402 Stage 1 springs. They handle weight better, improve the ride quality, and will bring back the rake, even with tools in the bed. Cheaper options like Dobinsons exist, but you get what you pay for. Avoid OME Dakars if you can.

@Teagan
This is helpful, thank you. Will the Deaver U402 Stage 1 springs give me a slight rake even with the tools in the bed? I saw they’re rated for 0-300 pounds. Is that for consistent weight?

Yes, with those springs, you’ll get a slight rake even with weight in the bed. On my long bed, they added 3 inches unloaded and about 2.25 inches with 250 pounds in the bed. For you, it’ll likely be closer to 3 inches since your current springs are sagging. The rating is for constant weight, but they’ll handle more without issues compared to OEM springs.

@Teagan
That’s perfect. Thanks again for the advice!
