I just found out that the new Tacoma access cabs will no longer have suicide doors. Why? The only justifications mentioned online are “cheaper” (lol) and “safer.” Am I the only one who thinks this is a terrible idea?
Yeah, the 2024 Tacoma Access Cab now has two regular doors instead of the suicide doors. The change is mainly for safety and cost reasons, even if it might seem like a downgrade. It’s a common trade-off in design for modern safety standards.

The 2024 Tacoma still offers the short cab with a long bed option. However, the previous basic extended cab model has been changed to a true two-door truck, similar to the standard cab.
Yes, the 2024 Toyota Tacoma’s XtraCab (formerly the Access Cab) now has only two doors. Unlike previous models with small rear doors, this version is purely a two-door setup. This change aligns the XtraCab more with traditional regular cabs, focusing on work and storage space rather than passenger access.
