What are some good tonneau cover options for a Toyota Tacoma with a short bed that aren’t priced around $1000? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
If you’re looking for a budget-friendly option, consider getting a soft roll-up cover.
The Tiger cover was about $250 and has worked really well for me for the past 1.5 years.
I chose a soft top and haven’t regretted it. I can roll it up and still use my bike mount, making full use of the already limited bed space. Many hard tops either restrict access to the entire bed or flip up and obstruct the rear window.
The Lomax tri-fold is fantastic.
Alternatively, the Lomax Stance offers full bed access, though it requires more effort to remove the cover panels quickly.
I chose the Lomax (for my Tundra) over Bak and other popular options, and I’m really pleased with the quality. I don’t think there’s a better-looking cover available, and it keeps the bed dry.
Thank you @Glock, imma check it out bro
I really liked mine and found a dealer on TacomaWorld, which helped me save a bit. I switched to a Softopper, but the Lomax kept the water out, was hard cover, and easy to install on my own.
I bought the Backflip, and I think it was somewhere between $750 and $1000, though I can’t remember the exact price. The snaps and support arms broke, but it still stays up. It’s been quite durable, and I’ve even stood on it a few times. It has a very low-profile appearance. If it continues to get damaged, I might consider coating it with truck bed liner in the future.
I got really fortunate with my Backflip. I found a third-party seller on Amazon offering it a few hundred dollars below retail price. When it arrived, there was some minor damage to the inside of the cover, but I ended up getting it for $250.
Now, I’m ordering a new hardware kit because most of the clips, screws, and connectors have either broken or rusted.
