What have you all experienced with high-mileage Toyota Tacomas that have over 200K miles? I’m curious about the 4.0-liter V6 engine 1GR-FE. Toyota claims the engine is only good for 200K and can’t be rebuilt due to how the block is made. Can you share your mileage or let us know if you had to replace it and why?
I’ve heard that the 1GR has some common issues, but it seems pretty rare for your mileage
Check out the 4runner forums, I found a lot more reports of that happening over there. It seems like it’s mostly a pre-2008 issue
I have a 09 SR5 with 218k on it, and everything is original. It runs super smooth
Just curious, did you ever rebuild or replace your shocks? If you did, around what mileage was that?
I’ve got a 2004 XtraCab V6 manual SR5 TRD Off Road. Shocks aren’t too pricey, so I’d just replace them
I agree. I found it funny how it sounded like I was looking for an excuse to skip maintenance. I was just wondering what a normal interval would be for that
I just changed my front struts last weekend, but the backs are still good. These lasted about 100k with all the dirt roads in the oilfield
Nice, that’s impressive longevity right there
