What are your thoughts on the new Tacoma? I picked it up out of state and drove it back. Already over 200 miles and I’m loving it so far.
That’s awesome to hear. The Tacoma with the roof rack and bed cover is definitely a plus. I have some new upgrades planned for the future, like a phone mount, decals, and extra storage
The Pro model looks really nice
So so nice I tell you.
Congrats on the beautiful truck. Let me know how that roof rack works out for you. I have the same one on my TRD Off Road, and it vibrates a lot over 75 to 80 mph. Also, why do you need a phone mount? It already has Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, plus a good charging spot.
I still need to tap my screen for a few things on long trips I usually place my phone on the Qi charger and ignore it except for using CarPlay on the 14-inch screen When I commute I have to switch between emails and my work pager so having it at steering wheel level for a few taps before using talk-to-text is really helpful
OnX Off-road works with CarPlay too and has downloadable maps so I don’t have to touch my phone for that
About the rack I didn’t hear any noise driving home with the radio or podcasts on I drove 160 miles mostly at 65-70 mph on cruise control through winding country roads with rolling hills but once I got home and drove 60-65 mph with my wife over some bridges and tunnels I definitely noticed it was loud on those longer bridges I had the music down so we could talk at a normal volume but I did pick up on it
I’ve heard the noise is because the rear fairing is plastic while the other parts are metal I want to see if a friend with a machine shop can make me a water-cut aluminum replacement and powder coat it black or I’ll wait for someone to come up with a solution if my guys can’t get to it quickly
Maybe for trail map apps I’m not sure if any have been integrated into CarPlay
Man we need to see more pics Also what kind of numbers are we talking about How much should I set aside for one of these trucks
I’ll share more pics as I get to play with it It’s definitely not for the faint of heart or wallet I put down $35k and financed $36k once you add in the PIOs delivery plus tax tags and title
Is this a 4-cylinder I just can’t wrap my head around that
The new 4-cylinder is pretty impressive my friend
Please enlighten me I’m looking at a 23 TRD PRO with a 6-cylinder I have a 2002 V6 Tacoma and a 2006 V8 Land Cruiser It’s time for an upgrade But it doesn’t seem like the gas mileage is really that much better and the power feels less Please help me understand what’s holding me back about the 4-cylinder
I had a 22 TRD Off-Road and now I’ve got a 24 Sport I can’t say which one you’ll prefer but for me the new 4-cylinder is definitely quicker and smoother The best way for you to find out is to take both for a test drive I also had a 20 SR 4-cylinder and that engine was super slow I lease my trucks so I’ve been driving the newer models for a few years now
I really love the new ones so it looks like a test drive is definitely needed But how can they stack up against my Gen 1 lol. Just so you know I’m not racing or anything but I do need enough power to pass trucks on the freeway
It’s about half a second quicker from 0-60 and through the quarter mile. But believe it or not it actually gets worse gas mileage than the outgoing V6 3rd gen
I’m actually getting better gas mileage in my new one Not by much but a few mpg better
