I’m planning to get a Tacoma and noticed that most seem to have short beds. Is there a specific reason for this? Are there any downsides to the 6-foot bed?
Also, I’m wondering if Tacomas ever come with leather or leather-like seats. Most of the ones I’ve seen only have cloth interiors. Would love to hear from anyone who knows!
I drive a DCSB OR with the MT, and mine has leather. It’s fully loaded, but this setup is kind of rare with the manual transmission. The leather’s nice, though the sides are vinyl. Only the parts you sit on are actual leather, which feels a bit cheap.
I’ve owned both a 2022 Tacoma with leather seats and another one with cloth. Honestly, the cloth seats are WAY more comfortable. If I were you, I’d go with cloth and just add some good seat covers.
I’ve got a DCLB, and it’s fantastic, though the turning radius is terrible. From what I’ve seen, short beds outnumber long beds by a huge margin—probably around ten to one.
As for leather seats, they’re an option but not super common. Many people end up going with aftermarket covers like Clazzio or Katzkin.
The simple answer is that most people don’t need a 6-foot bed, so manufacturers make more 5-foot ones. It’s cheaper for them to focus on what’s most in demand. If people were fine with even smaller beds, those would probably be standard too.
@Quillan
What I meant is, if you’re saying more people prefer 5-foot beds, just say that instead of rambling about 1-foot and 3-foot beds. Make your point clear.

Look, people have different needs and experiences, so they form different opinions. If you don’t like my post, that’s fine—I’ll sleep just fine tonight.
