Why doesn’t Toyota make a V8 Tacoma? (…anymore…?) 🤔

Hi guys,

Apologies if this seems like a naive question or post. I’m currently looking into buying a Tacoma. Despite my preference for more available power, especially low-end torque which a V8 would provide, it’s still my top choice among trucks primarily due to its reliability.

Toyota already has a strong V8 engine used in the Tundra. I’m curious why they haven’t offered a V8 option in the Tacoma. I’ve seen V8s in 4Runners but not in Tacomas. While I could save up for a Tundra, I prefer the smaller size of the Tacoma and specifically want a pickup bed rather than an SUV like the 4Runner. A V8 in a Tacoma would be ideal; in my opinion, it would be the perfect combination of power and utility.

Has Toyota ever offered a V8 Tacoma in the past? If so, how far back would I need to look? Would others be interested in this option, or do I have a minority viewpoint on this?

Hey fam Toyota has chosen to emphasize the dependability of its V6 engines above its V8 option for the Tacoma. Tundras and 4Runners have V8 engines. A V8 Tacoma would have plenty of power and usefulness. It is not just you that want this!

I own a Tacoma, and I wish Toyota had a V8 option. A V8’s increased torque and performance would be perfect for hauling and towing. A V8 Tacoma would revolutionize the industry by combining power and utility in a midsize vehicle. This is a sentiment that many enthusiasts share; hopefully, Toyota will eventually accommodate V8 consumers.
