Anyone else have back seats get wet after a car wash?

@Riley
What about the newer years, like 2023? Same issue?

Nope, just 2016-2019 models.

@Riley
I heard it only affects double cabs. True or false?

Yep, the recall only covers double cabs from 2016-2019.

Thanks for clearing that up!

@Devi
I had the same recall on my 2019. The brake light seal was faulty and caused leaks.

Yep, that’s called the third brake light.

Oh, thanks! Didn’t know the official name.

I tried the ECT mode today, really felt a difference.

Oops, I mean ECT!

@Devi
I’d still take it to Toyota and have them check the brake light gasket.

@Devi
My mom had the carpet replaced under warranty for her 2016.

@Devi
Had mine fixed on my 2017. Don’t wait, it’ll mold up if you let it sit.

@Devi
Yeah, that brake light gasket recall is notorious for causing water damage.

Which year is your car? If it’s third generation, did you handle the brake light gasket recall?

Also, any roof racks or sunroof?

So does this affect all third gens or just earlier ones?

@Reese
The recall is for 2016-2019 Double Cab Tacomas, just for the center brake light leaking.

Got it, thanks!

The water stains on the headliner look pretty old. Might be your back window seal leaking.

Call your dealership. This is a known issue, and they should fix the third brake light gasket for free.
